On this day 1 year ago, I quit smoking, ironically it was Friday the 13th. According to the calculator on here, I have saved $4,037 however, I'm sure the figure would be higher than that, because the price of cigs have risen since I first filled out the calculator section, a year ago.

For those of you who dont know, my quit method was by using Champix. Although I didnt use them as I was suppose to, it worked for me and I couldnt be happier. I now know what it feels like to be a non smoker and NOT think about smoking.

This is the 1st year of the rest of my life!

Thank you Red, I appreciate your input. Congratulations and well done on quitting, keep up the good work. As for my hubby, he still wants to quit but is not committed yet. I cannot and will not push him as I dont want to be that nagging ex smoker type. Whenever he brings it up, i encourage him and give him tips..that's all I can do, the rest is up to him.....like you said...its all about control and he has to choose to control it and when.

Cheers :D

Yay Flora. Congratulations, you are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing. The stories here really help. I too am on champix, day 30, but as Red has said before it is all in taking control of your head, and really wanting to. I had friends here the other day having a smoke, but i just told myself there is no reason to, and that nothing bad will happen if I don't. I found it really easy at first with the elation of stopping for a few days, but now admit that i struggle sometimes. However.. I am proud of myself, feel like less of a social outcast, feel confident when meeting new colleagues that i won't be judged on smelling like smoke (you can never truly disguise it) feel strong and capable, and am so much more productive without the constant procrastination and stopping to smoke. When I hit a year it will be $9000 :)

Thanks Jakki. So happy to be of any inspiration, I certainly was inspired by others before me. Looks like your head is in the right place and THAT is the key to freedom ....no more slave to the trade. Bravo, you are progressing so well, keep it up.

Cheers :D

Alright Flora, :)

This is a milestone, the one year mark. Congratulations for your accomplishment. You have done it and we are very proud of you. I would like to eventually say the same, but I'm 10 months away from then. I'm glad you made it there. Have a good one.

Mike

Hi Flora,

Woohoo congratulations!!! That was a wonderful read.

I truly believe it doesn't matter which way a person chooses to quit, not smoking is the best feeling ever!!!

Hello Kim and thank you. Yes, it doesnt matter the method...it's the end result that we strive for and that's what counts. Absolutely the best feeling. Well done to you too. Cheers :D
