Been free for 106 days. The first 3 weeks I was a daily viewer of this sight and it helped get me past the initial period.

Haven't logged on for 2 months thinking I didn't need to, but recently the cravings are stronger then they have been??

My reason for quitting is the $$. When I started smoking it cost me $0.10 for a single on the way to school then the Navy sold me tax free smokes for a $1 a pack. Last pack I bought was $35. No matter how you look at it that is more then inflation

Those thoughts will go PaulP. Its normal and like I just posted on 'Not this time's' post, it like waiting until your relaxed and BAM its in your mind and just wont go away... I found the last and worst time was the 5 month mark, I'm now over the 8 months and I don't have any issues, thoughts or worries about it at all.

Oh and fab job on the 106 days. I bet you feel better in a lot of ways..

Hey Paul....106 days you doing well. If you can stick it out to 180 days.....i.e.the 6mth mark then you will be basically on your way to freedom. From my experience i found the 2mth, 3mth and the 5th mth the hardest. You get attacked left, right and centre while the nico demon gives it all his got. But mate stand strong do not yield if you genuinely want to quit and yes you will survive. I am just short of 9mths now and cravings ...nil....odd urge yes...habit hard to break but will get there. Good luck .

Thanks Johnnie, it's good to hear other people's experiences and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm interested to know how often you login after 9 months strong? I thought I was done with it til this week.

Paul it is up to the individual how many times he / she logs in, and i say this in a kind manner. I find it helps shed confidence in people trying to quit by relating your experiences and also i may pick up something too from long term non smokers. My advice would be to view posts often and post if you find it to be worthwhile. Good luck.

So you don't do it for you, you do it for others. Thanks. By the way, the urge has gone. Why are some days better/worse then others?

Paul, you also do it for yourself. Like being on a forum discussing different ways and views on subjects. I certainly post for my benefit too in times i may need assistance from others. We are in this site to help each other ...that is what it's all about. Post and ask as often as you wish. Cheers.

Almost forgot to answer your question Paul. It is only natural some days are worse than others for cravings...especially if smoking is still on your mind. If you ignore it the cravings do not last long you can also benefit from small dosages of nrt if cravings are really bad. Mate it is our brain trying to adjust from not given nicotine.....eventually the longer you go then nicotine is less sought by our brain.Hope this helps.
