7 Week Proud

Hey all,
Can't believe I'm able to say that I've been smoke free for 7 weeks and I'm super proud of myself.
I barely think about smoking anymore and am just about off all nrt.
A huge thank you to Johnnie for your advice because I've taken it and now go for hours at a time with none.
Good luck all and stay strong.

Thankyou Kim........yes the longer you go the more the urges diminish. All the nrt does is adds a little extra pleasure to our brain in the form of nicotine that releases the chemical dopamine in the brain. Unfortunately after years of smoking this leaves the habitual scars. We and i for one need to focus on the assumption that pleasure can be experienced without that little extra kick from nicotine. The habit is the hardest to break.....too long to go into it ....however if we can override the habit without putting off what lead us to smoke then we will just about reach freedom. Hope this all makes sense. Cheers.

Thanks all.
Yes Johnnie I do hear what your saying about
the habit part. It's interesting because whilst
I find myself not thinking about the cigs much,
today I walked up and watched some young
kids playing Auskick which has just started for
the year and this time last year, I'd always
have a quick cig before I watched. I actually had
a craving for one but recognised it was just
a smoking memory and had a sugar free
mint instead.
I agree with what Dobbin wrote, it takes
time to kick that mental habit but it can
be done.

Thanks Mike,
Yes I'm sure I will feel better once off nrt.
I'm only on the lozenge and only have the
smallest amount and my plan is to just
extend the amount of time I go between.
I used to be on a patch also but dropped
that a week ago alongside cutting back
the lozenge. I was never a heavy lozenge
user anyway and I'm proud that I've
managed to decrease the amount instead
of increasing since stopping the patch
without stepping down to the next 2 patch
sizes that I could have done.

Howdy Kim,
I live in Illinois about 20 miles (30 Km) NE from St. Louis, Missouri. I believe we started mass production of the automobile first with Henry Ford's Model T. So I think we came up with driving on the RIGHT side of the road. It's cool that you've been here before, Wisconsin is just one state north of me. It's about a 5-6 hour drive for me to get across the state line. I've never been to Europe or Austrialia where you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. I'd probably get in an accident of run somebody off the road by accident. Right now our St. Louis Blues hockey team are in the Stanley Cup playoffs. They've never had the cup before so I'm rooting for them big time. They lost today thought. :( Dang Kim, we need to get your health back on track, promise to stay on top of it. I had no idea you also needed spine surgery. I will keep you in my prayers and hope all goes well. Hey I got an idea, being that we quit the same exact time and I know Lia suggested having a quit partner, and I was thinking if you didn't have a partner yet, maybe you might want me as your quit buddy. What cha think? No need to respond right away you can think about it, but don't wait too long I might have to pick someone else. You got 15 hours forecast time, Lol. Talk to you later.

Hiya Mike,
Haha love your sense of humour!!! Okay,
so perhaps us Aussies drive on the wrong
side. When I was there, strangers used to
ask me to say funny little sayings because
they loved my accent!! Um, what accent???
*giggles*.
I promise I'm doing all I can to get my
health on track and am really listening to
and acting on all advice.
Hey, hope your team goes well!!!
Yahoooo, yes we can be Quit buddies.
Totally awesome idea!
Imma gonna call you Mikeqb as in
Mike Quit Buddy.
The forecast for tomorrow?
You're gonna clock up another smoke free
day!!

Hey QB-Kim,
Yeap still smoke free, you are good at this 15 hour future forecast thing. I'm so glad I finally have someone to complain, moan and groan too. Now I bet your having seconds thoughts. Just to let you know what's going on in my neck of the woods. It rained here so hard over the weekend, there's flooding everywhere in the low areas, the river bottoms and such. We got 9 inches of rain. Oh yeah metric system, multiplied by 2.54cm, around 11.5cm of rain. Weather man said it's about what we would normally see in a months time. So that's the talk at work today. So what's going on with you. Never mind your sleeping again. Talk to you later.
