It's 15 days since I last had a smoke. Quit cold turkey. It has been getting harder for the last few days not to smoke. The cravings have been really bad but so far I haven't smoked. Helps I don't have any smokes here.

Well done Doreen, 15 days is impressive. I always found if strange that I felt worse at say day 12 than day 5- my thoughts were that It should be getting easier.!

I believe that it has a few cracks at us especially when stressed. This happened on and off to me until about 5 months, it then had one hell of a craving that lasted days. I was so shocked and quite frankly annoyed. It felt like the nicotine devil was having a final 'attack' to see if I would break (I hope it was a final attack!) Ive had nothing since.

Just be always in your toes as some days and weeks are fine, others you just want to cry. Freedom is just around the corner though so hang in there.

Today has been one of those crying days.

I don't understand why it's getting harder either - I thought it would have been worse the first few days. Thanks

Hi Doreen,

I'm on your foot steps, only 1.5 days behind

you and I think the first week is a bit easier

because it's all new and you can be

determined but I'd have to say each day

can be a struggle but a bit easier some days

than others. We all smoked for years so

it's learning a new way of life. That takes

a lot of strength so I try to focus on that

positive. I've not cried yet but sometimes

a good cry can actually make a person

feel better, kind of like a release. We need

so much self care right now whilst we

fight this horrible addiction.

Good luck x

Hey Doreen,

Well done on making it to 15 days! I am a couple of weeks behind you, just about 15 days now. I've been from elated to near tears for the last couple of days, and reminding myself that I am now off the hook is doing me the world of good. The thing for me is those little gaps in time, when the dinner is in the oven, or the dishes are in the sink to soak that I feel like going out for a smoke. I'm pretty sure I won't, it does help that I don't have a pack here, so I can't have my favourite even if I were to crumble (housemate still smokes). Sometimes I could tackle her and rip the smoke out of her hand but I've been able to talk myself down so far.

How are you going? Is it getting any easier?
