Replacement for comfort

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 1 Feb 2017

I am on day 20 without a cigarette. But after a long day at work I long to come home and smoke a cigarette for the comfort, to calm me,to relax me. I don't know how to fill that void.

Hi 'yes you can' - Im hearing you and you are where I have been so many times in my month free of nicotine. I have dreaded coming home to my "smoking place" as nowhere else I went allowed it anymore - and if you really want the truth it is probably because of all we know I was embarrassed to be a smoker and wanted to hide it from my peers and colleagues. My first smoke after work has been sorely missed, I have to find something else to do - I've sat at the computer in my living room and read from this website, and rejoiced in the fact that I am not sitting in the stifling heat getting my fix. I hated smoking on hot days, stale hot air, sweating skin seems to absorb the stench of cigarettes more. I remember how uncomfortable it was to sit outside and smoke, long for the air conditioned room but want to suck in another fag before I came inside. By the time I dwell on all of the negatives of that experience the craving had gone and I got on with some chores or reading. Hope this helped, keep up the good work
