Keep going

17 months since I last smoked on September 7 th 2015 and going really ok.
Can't pretend that the first few weeks were easy because they were almost unbearable but just bearable. Having smoked for 53 years it was always going to be difficult but I knew it would not kill me.
I never denied that I really wanted a cigarette but that I needed to quit more.
My wife had recently gone through a triple heart bypass and in 2008 I had an operation for three stents.
I came to really hate everything about this filthy habit. The sickly sweet stench. Smelly clothes. Stinky breath. Expense. Having to buy them sometimes in an all night garage in the early hours. Being owned. And the list went on and on.
Thanks to friends on here I believe that there is no need ever to smoke again. I know I have a choice and that to smoke just one cigarette would send me back to the arms of nicotine addiction.
The benefits of not smoking are so many but the greatest one for me is not being a slave to that little white stick.

Well done, Dobbin......there is more plus benefits for not smoking than for being a smoker.
Next week i go into hospital for knee surgery..today i filled out the admissions forms, 1 question was asked..."are you a smoker"? Had much pleasure and ticking the No box.
