3rd Day

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 26 Feb 2017

Today is my 3rd day smoke free using NRT patch to help me get rid of this bad smoking habit.

Cravings are too strong and temptations are too heavy to handle, headaches are too frequent to ignore. Feel so irritable and my mood swings from up and down. good thing i had my supportive wife and this web-community with me to overcame this battle.

Before my quit date, i had read a lot of experience on this community that helps me prepare for my Quit date. Expecting all worst that will come along the way (and being prepared for it). I decided to start my quit date on weekend, so i can manage the sleepness nights and the stressful hours at work on my 1st and 2nd days on smoking cessation.

I also have this 'Smoke Free" apps that motivates me and helps me monitor my progress, cravings and health benefits etc. Hope to complete my 3rd day...

Good luck Desert Fox. Sounds like you have done your homework. The cravings will seem overpowering but they will not kill you. There is plenty of advice here to help but ultimately it is your determination that will be the test. For me I became so disgusted with the habit and particularly after my wife's heart bypass that I was prepared to go through anything to quit.

Whatever works for you will work for you. I drank really sweet strong coffee. Ate copious amounts of toffee eclairs. Took really deep breaths when the cravings came on. Just to note though I don't drink strong sweet coffee or eat toffee eclairs now the cravings have disappeared. The pain is really worth it for all sorts of reasons but being free of the totally negative shackles of cigarettes is by far the best reward. Good luck.

Hi Dobbin, Thanks for the suggestions. Coffee triggers my craving a lot. I stop the coffee momentarily till next week and hope the cravings is tolerable. I definitely agree, determination is one of the main keys to be successful on this battle :-).
