Terrible Two

Hi everyone, my name is Britt and obviously as most of you on here I'm addicted to smoking. It's been effecting my overall health and stamina. I was smoking 20-25 cigarettes a day (more when I drank) for 5 years. I'm asthmatic so yes stupid me for starting in the first place. I'm on day two currently with the patch. So far it's been a little rough, I honestly have this horrible head ache and it's making my head feel like it's going to explode as well as I constantly feel as if I'm anxious. Always on the verge of having an anxiety attack, or so that's how I would explain the feeling. Also these dreams are so vivid and typically not so nice. I haven't given in and had a smoke. I've been sticking to it and I'm proud of myself. Even though it's only day 2. Yesterday I didn't feel like this. So I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Hi Britt, welcome to the club and well done on going into day 2....
Your body would be experiencing many changes, wether its due to the patches or your body is just screaming out for its usual fix of Nicotine...Nicotine is a very powerful drug.
So I would say the anxiety and headaches would be combination of withdrawals, but any
concerns go back to your Dr.
Throughout your journey of detoxing your body of this powerful addictive drug, you will experience alot of changes within yourself....
Its not a easy habit to give up, if it was we wouldn't be having this forum to discuss our journey.
Your cravings for a smoke will not kill you but this is where you will use your mind power to over ride these moments, be positive n determined if you really want to be the winner over a false friend the smoke has been to you.
Patches are there to help you, but its not a wonder cure, so you got to use your mindset.
Early days yet Britt but be very proud that you have taken the 1st step in your journey in being a smoker that doesn't smoke anymore..
Keep coming back and keep us informed how you are going with your journey.

Thank you for the welcome. I will continue to strive and do my best not to smoke. I know the patches are only an aid and that I myself have to find it within myself to continue on my not smoking journey. Will be posting regularly as it helps me get my feelings out there.

Hi Britt,
I quit with patches too. If you're getting vivid dreams while using them it may be a good idea to take it off before you go to bed and put a fresh one on when you wake up :o) I did and I didn't have any vivid dreams.
Good luck and keep posting

Hi Britt and welcome to the forum. Look your 5 yrs of smoking is relatively "puppy terms". If you are serious of quitting then push yourself hard to get through the first fortnight....that is the killer. When you progress to 3 mths or 90 days is when you can then sigh with relief cause you have taken control and urges are at your command and very minimal. From then on with proper mindset you are on your way to freedom. I am 6mths quit after 52yrs and been there and back so to speak. So try hard and you will succeed.Cheers
