Whatever issues are ongoing in my daily life it is so so so important to remember the gift of freedom by quitting smoking. Daily visits here to see how others are doing is essential and a great reminder that smoking was bondage in numerous negative ways.

493 days quit today and rarely have any cravings. The cravings that do manifest are really just thoughts with no real power and easy to dismiss.

Being a smoker for 53 years I didn't think quitting was going to be possible

I found this site my chance after being cold turkey quit for a few months on my own.

Icanquit will work if you work it. Stay close. Share honestly. Work with others. Be strong. The initial craving will NOT kill you. Scream Cry Shout if you need to but don't smoke one day at a time. Or one hour at a time.

The rewards will be fantastic and in ways you may not even imagine.

Hi Dobbin. Always appreciate your input. Was just thinking how any problem, stressful situation, world shattering event etc would see me reach for the cigarette packet. Seemed to solve all life's problems. Now we know it was just a way to distract us from the problem and when the last bit of smoke had vaporised into the air, surprise, the problem was still there and we were no clearer as to how to find a solution. So what did one do? Of course! The obvious!! alight up again. Laughable now, but only because I can air that thought here on this site to a fellow quitter who has travelled a long distance. Nothing like having quit buddies on this site.

Hey Lia. Good to journey with you. Also it's really good that those with a few years nicotine free come back to visit from time to time.

Always vigilant though as my sister quit for two years and had a relationship break up and took that first cigarette. She smoked for another five years before quitting again.

Thanks for your ongoing encouragement.
