Wanted some advice, I am into the last week of taking Champix, just taking one tablet now during the morning, and none in the evening. I want to stop taking them now as I feel ready to quit without the use of Champix, and they still make me feel sick, any advice from anyone who stopped smoking using Champix.

Hey Tinker, I was afraid to stop them, I was certain that I would fall in a heap sobbing on the floor.. it wasn't that dramatic or anywhere near it! I did have some cravings but they were milder than expected. You will be fine. I cut back to one a day, like you, then just stopped..

Thanks Cranky - did you do the full 12 weeks as well for the Champix? am at the full 12 weeks on the 28th January, so not far away. I found taking the Champix in the evening to strong being honest, so I only took .5mg and then stopped. I had my first craving yesterday and I hadn't had one in ages just come out the blue.... but did not give in and kept going....! Thanks Cranky am looking forward to taking the next step on my journey and stopping the Champix:)) good luck on your journey!

Yeah I did the 12 weeks and wanted to do longer, I was so worried that the cravings would be too much. It was probably more than 12 weeks in the end because for the last two weeks I had one a day instead of two. I think if your mentally prepared you'll be fine. I expected the worst and it wasn't that bad. Had much worse cravings at the 5 month mark. Good luck but I'm sure you don't need it..

Thanks Cranky and Steve, am going to start mentally preparing myself, I think temptation is going to be a big thing, my Aunt who gave up 20 years ago, so she still feels like a smoke sometimes now, lol...... - thanks again for your responses, hopefully fingers crossed I will be posting on here for 100 days being smoke free, good luck on your journeys to:)))

Hi Tinker, I was also nervous coming to the end of the 12 week course, so the doctor suggested I take another course, so I did 3 weeks in I stopped, i started to get really short breadth and finally felt I could cope on my own. Now I am 314 days smoke free, most of the time I'm good but it still sneaks up occasionally and you either think you want a smoke or maybe you just reach for them. Stay focussed you can do this, just remember we are addict's and we can never have even one cigarette.

Hi Storm, thanks for the advice, yes you are right, I seem to have good days where I am on a high from non smoking and bad days, where I feel like buying a packet, have to remind myself, thank you for the advice I think that is what I will do:)
