1 Week done

Probably had to fight the urge 10 - 12 times last week but not having a beer has been helpful, I have no doubt with a few beers "on board" I would be extremely vunerable to "have 1 it won't hurt". Staying dry and strong for week 2.

Bluebag...well done on week 1... staying away from temptations that you associate with smoking is very hard, but you are doing the right thing at this stage.....but as time goes by you will feel like having a beer or 2....what happens then?
This is where a strong character needs to be positive and determined not to allow these 2 vices to mingle...
Welcome to week 2.

Hi Bluebag,
I too felt that having a drink would be my downfall... so I just stopped drinking altogether for the first month or so. Then it was Bathurst to watch the V8s - With its culture of drinking I was a little nervous but I took to chuppa chups very well :o) I still had that hand/mouth action smokers associate with but I had a lollipop instead of a ciggie. Worked wonders and chuppa chups actually tasted good with my rum!!! So I succeeded in taking on Bathurst about 4 weeks into my quit and remained smoke free!!!! woo hoo
It can be done Bluebag - but you have to want it - you have to want to quit
Good luck

Thanks for the support jenno211058 and Crasher, you may think it was nothing but both comments give me the resolve to carry on, sensational, I now there are tougher times ahead but the journey has begun and with your support will be completed.

I also enjoy my regular wine, but haven't been game since quitting, which is a good thing really. Sure won't hurt to let my poor body recuperate from both cigarettes and alcohol. My two vices for many years.

Agree Judes played golf with the lads (12 of us) last Sunday and said no to going back to the club for a beer, just in case. I felt better about myself but it did take some doing, next battle is Australia Day.
