Hi all,

Day 50 and time to check in...

Last time I wrote I mentioned about my fear of going to Bathurst to watch the V8s - this with its culture of drinking and smoking...

So Bathurst - I was fearful and temptation was great but I did it - I SUCCEEDED - - I did NOT smoke at all.

I put this down to choice. Every time a craving snuck up (especially with an alcoholic beverage in my hand) I CHOSE not to smoke. I told myself I did not want it. And I grabbed a chupa chup instead. It worked. Chupa Chups last so much longer than a craving and go well with rum and coke (lol)

Many of my smoking friends have been inspired by my quit and have said they will follow soon. I offer them support as I do for all of you guys reading this.

I'm not out of the woods yet and I fully comprehend the dangers of my long journey ahead but as each day passes I feel I get stronger and think less about smoking. My partner continues to smoke (even in the car) and it doesn't bother me anymore. I no longer want to rip the ciggie out of his hand and consume it. Rather, I know he will quit when he is ready and for his own reasons but I think he is secretly watching what I go through and how I cope before he tackles it himself.

Good luck all - we can do this!!!!

Hi Crasher. Great job. Also great job realising why people quit and that you cannot tell anyone to do so. One only can truly succeed if the idea and motivation is their own. Let's hope your partner decides to give himself a $230 ish pay rise a week. Hey, that could amount to - A trip, an investment mortgage, extra money in the Super coffers, whatever... After a few years maybe a Maserati or a Lamborghini. After 10 years that amount will be around $150 000. Amazing...
