"Century One"

Hi all, today i have achieved 103 days quit after 50 yrs smoking. Feeling better and cravings only come around mildly at this point of time. Thoughts sometimes bring on urges but all in all you develop new habits to counteract the ones you fulfilled while smoking and learn to go about your normal routine without the cigarette. I assure you it is "not" easy but given the fact you start to feel better you never want to go back to the smokes. The money you save is inbelievable and I have bought items i always wanted now that i do not need to burn the money. But, it is like i tell all my friends....it is not about the money .....but about trying to stay healthy at my age . For any one interested and it does help with cravings and also keeps mouth fresh and free from bad breath is to chew gently 1 or 2 cloves . Can last for up to 20mins then expel do not swallow the cloves.Might taste and feel like you have been to the dentist but cloves are very good for helping us quit. Good luck everyone. Cheers.

Congrats Johnnie! 100 days for a 50+ year smoker is no small thing to accomplish. WELL DONE!

🎶Go go Johnny go go go 🎶 well done for the 100 plus. Bet you are feeling great

Thanks everyone. Wendy up to about 8 weeks i went through hell and high water. I use nrt to help me but in small amounts. But Wendy yes up to that time i had some massive urges and walked outside to smoke unknowingly....it is the habit. However stick it out Wendy up to 90 days not easy and sometimes the coughing bouts you go through you know the body is trying to clean and you somehow enjoy the coughing lol. Look you getting to a stage now where all of a sudden your cravings will start to diminish a lot.....but the habit is hardest i found and still adjusting to. Good Luck.

On ya Johnnie, well done! It's a journey hey, one that I'm don't ever want to take again... Good on you..

Hi Steve, look cloves are good. You treat them like chewing gum.....but do not bite too hard. Take getting used to but the results are great, fresh breath and a form of natural healer for gums and maybe sore teeth which are bound to develop when one has smoked fo such a long time. Cheers mate.

Congratulations Johnnie on a huge milestone keep going strong you are an inspiration.

A great achievement, Johnnie...what method did you choose to give up the smokes?

Hey Jenno, first method is definitely believing in yourself and being SERIOUS about it for strong reasons. The things that helped and still do is nrt lozenges 4mg. Split each tablet in quarters with a sharp knife and take a piece each time a strong craving comes along. As the time quit increases the need for the nrt decreases. Good Luck. n.b. Do not take a full lozenge....hiccups develop.
