Any tips please on how to manage the cough? Strangely, I didnt really cough while smoking, but now I cant seem to stop... its waking me up too... Im only at Day 8..

Hi breathless. I used to cough when smoking. The tickly cough can be cured by sucking on a lemon. The acid in the lemon stifles the cough. If it is a chesty cough then you should consult your doctor

Thanks Wendy... Im going to see the doc today.... not sure Im meant to feel this crook, and all home remedies I tried did nothing. Seems this poor old bod is going into shock with no durries or alcohol! Appreciate your concern.

I just copied this from a Doctors post:......Although it's not common, some people seem to cough more than usual soon after stopping smoking. The cough is usually temporary and might actually be a sign that your body is starting to heal.
Tobacco smoke slows the normal movement of the microscopic hairs (cilia) that line your lungs. When you stop smoking, the cilia become active again. As the cilia recover and the mucus is cleared from your lungs, you might cough more than usual — perhaps for several weeks. In addition to reduced cough, most other respiratory symptoms, such as phlegm (mucus) production and shortness of breath, continue to improve for up to a year after stopping cigarette smoking.
In the meantime, you can speed the process by staying well-hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water and juice. You might also increase the humidity in the air with a humidifier or vaporizer.

Thanks so much CF.... thats really helpful.... have been trying to stay hydrated, but the vaporizer also sounds like a great idea... feel like im breathing in a sauna or desert! Go back to doc today for xray results... was given antibiotics and a puffer thing yesterday.... ironic that my body gets crook when I finally begin to take care of it! 😊Ah well.... Day 10 today....hoping to notice the positive effects really soon. Thanks again!
