14 months

I am now 14 months away from my last cigarette and consider myself an extremely luck person notwithstanding the gargantuan effort it took to get here.
Started smoking when I was 14 in 1962. My friend and I bought a packet. After my first few drags I was violently sick. However , not to be beaten , I tried again and succeeded.
Started on 5 a day. Then 10. 20. 30. 40.
Reckon I smoked $250000 plus of cigarettes over 53 years
After having 3 Heart stents in 2008 still carried on smoking.
Finally after my wife had a triple heart bypass and begged me to stop smoking I gave up.
Just want to say thank you to icanquit and the regular posters and encouragers.

Well done Dobbin. What a fantastic effort. Keep writing on here as it's an inspiration to the rest of us.

Gargantuan effort is the phrase. Sometimes the days fly by and sometimes the minutes are agonizing, I'm glad it is in that order. Well done and thanks for keeping on coming back.

Well done Dobbin. what a success. You inspire me and many others on this site.

Well done , what a great achievement as we all know how easily we could return to the dreaded dragon!! Just one day after the other huh :-)
