"Going Forward"

Hi all, checking in again. Approaching 63 days on Sunday. Can tell you from my experiences that if you perservere from the devils in the first weeks it does get easier. I am now walking up hills a lot better with no butterflies and churning in my stomach. Weazing during sleep has gone and yes all in all no matter your age you do improve your well being by not smoking. My tip ....try hard now....do not wait 50yrs like i done. My biggest problem is the morning coffee....that is when i still get the cravings, however i try to focus on other things like the morning news or jump on to this site till the time rolls and then i focus on what smokes were doing to me and i say "why" ?bugger them. I heard too that cigarettes are due to rise soon in New South Wales....taking some packs of 40 to the $40mark. What a great deterrent is that for people trying to quit? One tip before i go....I found cutting up a piece of ginger.... approx a quarter of the size of a pill and chewing slowly...really helps with cravings...tastes awful but helpful and beneficial. All the best to everyone. Cheers.

Hi Johnnie. Whilst reading your post I am drinking my morning coffee ( it's 8 am in the Uk ). I usually open up icanquit to have a read of the posts on my iPhone. I realized that I hadn't any cravings at all and can enjoy the coffee without having to take a cigarette.
All the cravings eventually pass and all that is left for me is the occasional thought which I do not dwell on. Thanks for your post and please keep posting.

Hi again Dobbin, yes old habits can sometimes be hard to break, but the ace here is the fact that the habit we are talking about is completely non beneficial. What i am trying to say is that we must remind ourselves that it is a non win habit i.e. for example if it was a gambling habit at least you have a chance of winning so to speak. However with smokes you never win and eventually you become a spent force .....hard to explain Dobbin but hope you understand what i mean to say. I hope that one day i too can reach your goal of a full year. Bye for now mate

Hi Johnnie. Do whatever it takes.. I feel sorry for those who are still throwing away their hard earned cash on cigarettes as the price goes through the roof. I thought it was over the top at $1 a cigarette. Now it is going to be well over that. Over 60 days? Top effort! Don't look back. Just keep venting and sharing on this site.
