1 year on

I am posting today as tomorrow I will be at work.
Tomorrow...26 September or 377 days it will mark 1 year of going cold turkey.
I have for 1 year of not smoking saved in a smart kitty $6240.00.
I have suprised myself with what I have achieved... others have asked if I was going to celebrate with a smoke....the answer is simple, NO..
Temptation at times is still there but I have to be strong, stubborn, and give myself a stern talking to.
Its a very hard habit to break but its doable, be positive and patient with yourself. I had what I call a Bounce Buddy, he gave up smoking 2 weeks before me, so during our quit time together, we would support each other, I hadn't seen him for about a month, spoke to him the other day, asked how he was going with his journey...he was on the verge of tears and apologies to me as he had gone back to smoking....I told him that I was disappointed but not as disappointed as he is with himself, he let me down but he himself more....I had to reevaluate my journey... would of been so easy to cave in but I found an extra gear to continue on my journey, but still take one day at a time. I am like an alcoholic but I don't drink...but I am an addict to Nicotine.
Hopefully this time next year I can write another message of my journey and still be one of positives....
We can only give it our best shot if we stumble it just shows us we are all human.
Bring on my next 365 days of No Smoking.

Hi Jenno211058,
Congratulations on this wonderful milestone reaching one year. You are an inspiration and thank you for sharing this wonderful positive account of your journey. I totally agree with you - if we stumble we just need to start again & keep going. Goodluck for the next 365 days.

Congratulations. It's an awesome achievement and I think your description of finding an extra gear is so accurate. It is like climbing a very steep hill and even the lowest gear in the car doesn't help - you need that extra low gear. And you have navigated that hill so well. Good on you for getting to the top and long may you stay there.

Hi Jenno. Hope you last the distance and enjoy the freedom that comes with being a "non smoker". Just have to realize, once a smoker, always a smoker. Doesn't mean you have to reward yourself with nicotine, just a non smoker will never understand what you have given up. These days, if your health does not take a downward dive, then your pocket will suffer if you don't stay on the straight and narrow path... Wish you well

Wow, congratulations on a great achievement and the money saved. It's sad to think of all the cash that we have spent on smokes when we could have used it on so many better things! I have only just started and hope I can quit forever.

Congratulations Jenno211058, well done and thanks, you have been an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others
