Never give up

I have been cigarette free for 13 weeks now, and I have found the last few days really hard😭 I do not want to go back to being a smoker, yet this addiction is really hard and horrible. I have put on some weight from quitting smoking and it is really upsetting me and affecting my self esteem, so I start thinking "I didn't quit smoking to end up looking like Jabba the Hut? Should of kept smoking", which is not helping at all😭 because smoking cigarettes has given me emphysema, has destroyed my gums and teeth, has aged me and it will give me cancer if I continue to inhale it's toxic chemicals?so basically I do not want that for myself and no matter what, I will not pick up a filthy evil cancer stick, one day at a time. Thank god for this site, because I really needed to get that out and no one understands as much as you guys, who are on the same road😊

Oh you poor chicken, it's just such a nasty drug isn't it. The more I read about how it screws with people the more I hate it. What a bunch of amazing 'quitters' we are though, getting through this day by day. Keep your stubborn on!

Hi Miss Lizzy, so what putting on a few pounds? will not hurt unless you really go for broke. Go fo some walks during week and balance your diet as goid as possible. Better than putting poison smoke in us. Cannot wait till i say been 13 weeks smoke free. Good luck you doing good..

Hey Miss Lizzy. 13 weeks smoke free is a quarter of a year. 91 days. 2184 hours. 131040 minutes. 7862400 seconds. It will get better just trust and keep posting. Pull on the strength here. Dobbin

Oh flower, please don't get upset about your weight. You have done so amazingly well, we quit about the same time and I have put on a bit of weight too, it's totally normal don't you dare be down on yourself about this or you're being down on me too and I know you wouldn't do that, all your posts offering other people advice are full of kindness. Look at yourself properly! Right this minute, do it! You hair - I bet it's glossier than it was! Your skin - it's clearer and you've not got that grey tinge to it anymore! Am I right? OK. What about how you smell? Do you smell like an old ashtray? No, you don't. You smell like clean washing and soap, don't you! You have quit smoking! You're an amazing human being and you CAN and WILL lose any weight you have put on. Talk to yourself as if you were someone else stopping smoking. Show yourself a little kindness and understanding. This self-doubt is the nico-demon talking. Punch it in the face and then laugh at it.
I hope this helps

yes its hard but we can make it easier on ourselves by drinking tons of water and change what your eating you can do this keep strong don't let your mind trick you into starting again

A few people I know who have tried to give up and returned to smoking have used the weight issue as an excuse, phooey, I'm in the same position - I refuse to weigh myself, I think giving up the smoking is the most important thing here. I do try and walk eat better etch, but what the hell, once I am a complete non smoker, I will work on the weight issue & if its too bad will have surgery to fix the problem lol just joking, but yes there is surgery to fix obesity. With the support from everyone we can do it together, we are such an amazing group so stay strong, keep posting and do whatever you need to stay off the yucky smokes

Pleas Please don't give up Miss lizzy you have been such an inspiration to all of us newbe's. You should be very proud of yourself reaching 13 weeks. I know how you feel at 40 days I have also put on the kilos as well & had the same thoughts as you - but this is another challenge we need to face and to try to excercise & change our eating habits and really try to be healthy. I know you can do this Just keep going :)
