missing my sleep!

Hi,
I am onto day 5, and every day i have visited this site and found so much inspiration and encouragement from other posts, so here goes my first post!
The biggest hurdle i thought i was going to have this week was not smoking at work, I am a shift worker and this week i had night shift, which historically is when i smoke the most. It went well and I surprisingly didnt have too many urges to go outside!
The biggest thing i have noticed over the last 5 days is how poor my sleep is now! i have never been one to struggle to sleep however over the last few days i take a long time to fall asleep and remain very restless, waking often! It was hard when i normally get 8 hours sleep between night shift but only got 4 on thursday. I surprised myself when i got up early yesterday from not being able to sleep and ended up on a big walk in the afternoon! i even reached 20000 steps yesterday! (new record for me!) I wondered where i could possibly have gotten all that energy from!
I am hoping to keep this extra energy and incorporate lots more exercise into my new non smoking life!
I have found myself eating a bit extra and i hope when the cigarette cravings settle, so will the food cravings!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well done. Yes, the sleeping thing is an issue for most people who quit, it's quite normal so don't feel odd about it. We have all been there. Excellent news on the exercise thing, I too turned to exercise and invested in a FitBit, best thing I ever did, it has helped me no end. You are exercising more so you are eating more, that's the balance you get and as long as you continue to exercise as you eat more then you will be fine. A few extra pounds of weight is a small price to pay for stopping the evil of smoking. Keep going, keep posting and let us know the next stage of your exercise regime.

body is going through huge changes 5 days wow I was super mess couldn't even talk and was bouncing of the walls sleep we I slept ate when I ate my only goal don't smoke today everything else was a distant 2nd.
you went to work I couldn't have done that so don't be too hard on yourself we are good at bashing ourselves up.
be nice to you :)
