When is the best time to quit smoking?
The best time is right now. Why wait? I quit cold turkey over 100 days ago. I was born in the 60's and normally smoke 2 packs a day and have been smoking since the age of 14. I simply quit nicotine in all its forms , white knuckled it for the first few days and then started to train my mind on our addiction by reading lots of posts about the addiction on a regular basis. Its the mental/spiritual addiction that is the worst part and we need to overcome lies we've been told by the nicodemon.
Some people are waiting for their lives to get better before they quit or they might be waiting for a crisis to be over. Well, I quit smack bang in the middle of a crisis and believe me it is the best time to quit. Going through a crisis (which can double your cigarette intake) and smoking does NOT make anything easier or better. Everything is going to be worse by smoking. There is no single benefit to smoking except that the nicodemon tricks you into believing you are receiving relief when actually you are being conned by a two faced friend. If you don't like two faced friends, then quit smoking and rid yourself of them.
Congrats on an awesome achievement manchild, you should be very proud. Anytime is a good time to quit, the sooner the better.

Brilliant post, ManC, you're a wise owl. The times I had tried to stop before I decided it would have to me a Monday, to keep things tidy and if I didn't manage it I could then wait another week to try again. Not sure when I realised I was being an idiot, probably when I decided one Thursday not to smoke again. So right about the two-faced friend thing too.

and yep all the bullsh$t I had to tell myself to keep smoking has to be reprogrammed if only it was a wipe drive fresh install :) no such luck but hey we are doing it !!
