Getting ready to quit

Hi All,
I hope your quit journey is going well whether you are reading this because you are thinking of quitting or have been quit for weeks or months. I attempted to quit well over a year ago and logging into my account this morning for the first time since then showed if I had stayed quit I would have been quit for over 500 days ... a bit of a slap in the face but hey I am back on here and have wiped my slate clean and am getting back on the horse.
I started taking Champix 11 days ago, this will be my 3rd attempt using Champix ... now please don't think that the medication doesn't work because I can tell you that it 100% works for me. It stops the cravings, no weight gain etc. The only side effects is that I need to take the tablets after breakfast or I get a sharp pain in my stomach but I look at this as encouragement to have breakfast lol and also I have to take it no later than 5 or 6 in the evening otherwise I can get really vivid, crazy and scary nightmares. These are both known side effects. The other two attempts I failed to quit because of my lack of willpower and my stupidity (eg "Oh I wonder what it would taste like after not have smoked for a couple of months") and I also did not complete the full course of Champix (12 weeks).
My main reason for quitting this time is because my Husband and I want to start a family in the second half of this year and I want to get my body as healthy as I can within the next 3 months. Also, the amount of money that I spend on smoking ... it's ridiculous so as a reward to quitting smoking, I will get to see my kids grow up and give them the life they deserve by not being selfish and spending money on a filthy habit.
Anyway, tomorrow is my quit day and I just wanted to share a bit of my story. I feel really grateful to have this website to come to and write down my thoughts etc, it certainly helps.

Hi Tanzee, welcome back. It sounds like you know what you're doing, it makes it a little easier knowing what youre in for and how you coped etc. You have given some great reasons to quit and I wish you well on your journey.
I was on Champix and it worked for me. I am 38 days smoke free. I managed my champix much the same as you did, by taking it correctly....with food and around the 6pm mark etc. My main side effect was feeling restless and constipation, which I overcame in time.
Thank you for sharing your story, this is the beginning of greatness for you...good luck.

Hi Flora and IC thank you both for commenting and for your support! I am here for you too. :o)
Flora, I am glad you overcame your side effects and that Champix is working for you too.
Thanks again.

Hi, tanzee, it's amazing that you're stopping again. You sound very determined and I did the same as you more or less. Found that quitting was really easy the first time so brain said "excellent if you start again it will be just as easy next time" alas it was not the case and I think this is my third attempt. So if I can do it so can you. I have faith in you, you have a miriad of reasons but the most important one is to do it for you, to be free again. All the best and keep posting.

Thank you WhiteWillow. I really am determined lol. Congrats to you too! It's so true about your mind saying "I have done it before so can do it again, what's the rush" silly mentality but I am proud of you and me for not letting it trick us any more :o) Thanks again!
