99 days without a cigarette

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 9 Jun 2016

I've not posted here for a while. I've been busy with a whole bunch of things which I don't think I'd be able to handle so well if I was still smoking. In the last 99 days I've learned more about people and my life than the last few decades. Lets say I've been driven to my knees. Its been a shock for me knowing that I've been so naive in my life about so many things but I'm discovering my simple child like faith again and not giving in to fear.

Of course this blog is about quitting smoking, so I will remain on topic! Whatever is happening in my life or yours, its definitely NOT going to get better by smoking. Smoking does not help us in any way whatsoever. My friends are amazed that I'm still off the cigarettes. I've also managed to bring my weight down by drinking sparkling water instead of fizzy drinks with sugar. Sometimes I need to have something sweet but I'm learning to view them as treats rather than something I need all the time.

God bless all of you who are on this journey, especially IC who I believe has a great insight into people's character.

I remember you starting off on your journey of No Smoking.

What a great personal achievement to reach 99 days.

Thank you for your updates.

I agree MC, I want to be child like you know that joy kids get from simple little things , but some times I am just childish LOL

well done on the 99 days and despite some new insight that from here doesn't seem like much fun you are treading the path and growing from the whole experience so well done.

I have some bridges I need to cross also seems when I quit one addiction another wants to pop up sort of like weeds :( and I really don't like weeding.

but like I used to say to my friend about her garden just little bits at time and it gets done, we don't have to do it all in one day, thank God for that :)

so yeah awareness is the 1st thing , then taking some action to change it, and for me it really is bits at time but I think just have to do a bit every day and some how it gets done.

I sure wasn't expecting to see my name at the end of your post as I was enjoying your share, so thanks :) but not sure I have to many wise words today , other than some days its just enough not to have a smoke and the other days work on some chipping away to make life better for me and those around me.

super well done on the 99 days and with your attitude I am sure they will just keep clocking up :)

Hi Manchild, Agree. Life always gives us reasons to stress and what a surprise! Having a nicotine fix does absolutely nothing at all to diminish the problem, nor in any way fix it. Time wasted smoking does not solve anything. My, how we kidded ourselves when we could afford this stupid habit. Now we suffer monetary loss if we choose to imbibe. The very thought of ever paying $40 for a packet is unthinkable. Pity those who persist and try to last the distance. Many will end up being impoverished and unable to live in comfort in retirement. Let's hope all on icanquit actually do quit...

Well done, Manchild. It's important to rediscover the child in each of us. When did we become so serious about everything? It hadn't occurred to me until your post that on shedding the smoking I have found my humour again. I find myself laughing at myself more, not that I didn't anyway but it seems to come more quickly now. I'm enjoying being an idiot, I'm enjoying not holding that tension. Thanks, Manchild, it makes more sense now.
