smoke free

Today I am still smoke free, 59th day and coming to terms with the new me, heavier than before but at least I am smoke free. So today I have been shopping to buy some clothes that are not so snug, I can not fight my weight and my addiction at the same time, I am sure that in the future I will be able to get my weight under control. At this point in time I fight the urge every day but that is OK I am winning one day at a time.

Well done , storm. Day 59 is great. You must be so very proud of yourself for doing the hard yards.
I started to worry about the weight...had a friend visit who quit years ago.
Stacked on the weight .. now looks back to normal.
Just one thing at a time. Wish I had tried to quit years ago. Yes one day at a time. Still fighting.
That's awesome 59 days! As my old boss used to say; 'one tragedy at a time'.
Sort out the quitting first and then tackle the weight. If you can quit smoking you can do anything.

72 days for me. I can't fit into my normal trousers and have put a few inches on my waistline. I started drinking Ginseng tea without sugar, Japanese tea (without sugar), plain water and black coffee when I need something that is naughty. The coffee obviously without the sugar. My point is I am trying to avoid drinking any forms of sugar for the moment. I've done this for a few days already and it seems to be paying off.
Maybe this is not helpful to everyone but I'd thought I'd share what seems to be working for me

I went on a ice cream binge but getting sick of it, but still consuming sugar more than I would like, and there is a physical reason for this.
sugar like nicotine, and some other drugs like cocaine etc.. hit the same place in the brain that makes us feel good, so for me right at this very point in time its the lesser of 2 evils.
like if I could just quit everything shave my head and sit in the lotus position 8hrs a day, and be humble about the whole thing :)
time takes time.

congratulations Storm. I have been replacing smokes with food and found i was getting a little "podgy'..what a cute word. I have found plain wholemeal saladas to be a good replacement and bananas help too. Winter is here in S.A and it's been a bit fresh to go walkys but i have a scarf and warm duds so it's the old "mind over matter' ! keep up the good work Storm and everybody else. Proud of you. God bless u
