Remarks that people have made about my quit

There is a guy I met over the weekend who knows that I quit smoking recently and he asked me jokingly " So how long have you quit for now?" I replied " 65 days!" He then went on to say "Its not enough, you need over 1000 days!" This guy is someone I used to smoke with. Its almost like I've denied the faith and become a wuss while he is still some cool dude with all the fun.. LOL! To be honest, he did seem worried for me. I think my quitting annoys him. I know how he feels because I used to get annoyed when I saw certain people quit smoking. I used to think "What a wuss that guy is for quitting" but now I know its not true. Its easy to continue smoking and does not require any willpower. You simply light up and breathe in your drug.
Its early in the morning for me. Its not easy at this moment and I'm on day 67. I'm thinking "Don't be fooled by your addiction"
OK, I need to walk about a bit, not exercise but just get out of the apartment and come back. I'm sure some of you know this feeling of wanting to get out. My apartment is a great place but it feels like a prison at this moment. I'm sure I'll come back soon and feel better. I guess I'll go out and then come back take a shower and then do something positive i.e. do something one at a time. One action at a time, one day at a time!
Hi Manchild
I think it's possibly envy that your friend is displaying and a bit of resentment tbh I remember talking to a cousin a few months ago and they informed me that they were off the smokes a year and a half!! Whilst I was happy for them I was also shocked that they were able to do it and then there was me the failure!! The following day I thought stuff this if they can all do it then so can I as I was planning to go off them anyway but this definitely set it in stone 😊

There is a guy I know who has been off the smokes for more than 4 years. He took Zyban for a month and has not smoked ever since. I talked to him the other day and he was very helpful, although he wants me to believe that all smokers are losers. I guess thats how he deals/copes with it. I can't look at smokers as losers. I think its a bit harsh to generalise like that. I'd rather look at most smokers as someone like me who have been fooled into smoking and trapped in its madness - going round and round in a circle of continual craving like a mouse in a wheel, never going anywhere with it.

well no worries mate lets hop in that time machine we been working on and head off for 1000 days , I will be smoke free 1000 days you will still be sucking them down LOL
really its defence mechanism no one really wants to smoke we know that and we know the amount of crap we had to tell ourselves to stay smoking, no one in their right mind sucks down poisonous smoke and says its a great thing to do ?? only an addict.
so MC its 100% about him and has nothing to do with you.
I am worried also I am not looking after myself to well slipping in to some ugly depression , but the answer is simple eat better and move.
wind and rain for today then just wind, but I can eat better no matter the weather 40 days for me now its time to start on the other part of quitting self care , it was ok for 40 days to eat crap but that grace period is over so yes time to work on that now, this fun isn't it :)
well done MC keep up the great work !!

that is right its an addiction and for the most part is layered in justification, denial, and the reason for starting as in the underlying issues, then the physical aspect of the craving, losers is a pretty blanket statement coming from a loser :) if only it was that easy hey fix up the outside and everything inside is fine.
not that easy as most of us know :) to stop smoking and be angry at the world cause you cant smoke is not sobriety, its not smoking for me I want to not smoke and have some peace, and if I see everyone as losers I probably don't have much peace.

One day at a time. Only 935 till you hit 1000 days... Pay no attention to a saboteur. Definitely not a friend. Someone who is jealous of your accomplishment, unlike our community, who all understand the first few horrific moments, hours etc as we quit.. Enjoy the ride. One day at a time. Bask in the glory of your successes. And no rewarding yourself when you reach a milestone as just one puff will land you and the rest of us back where we were when we started.
