NEARLY 3 WEEKS IN AND TOUGHER THAN EVER

I am nearly at 3 weeks from 10 a day for 20 years. I am alarmed at how difficult I am finding these teens - 14 - 18ish. I think about smoking constantly. I know I will not smoke but I am tiring of this constant urge. Did anyone else find this period more difficult than the early days?

Yes its normal. There are cycles where cravings are far worse than others. You'll be fine and get through them if you just don't take a drag of a cigarette. Hang in there buddy and keep in touch!

like hitting a tennis ball the more times you do it the better you get at it :)

but yeah some days have to play 5 sets and are worn out !!

keep hitting those balls back .

I've read that 3 weeks and then 3 months are tough periods when giving up anything. It's weird but I've heard it said many times so it's got to have a ring of truth about it. You've just got to power through it. You're doing really well, hang on in there and it will pass and you'll be soooo proud.

Week 14 was the week I slipped up and had one cigarette story short I was soon back to puffing and smelling like an ash tray. Keep it up and you will get there I have re started and am now on day 4 smoke free I have learn't the hard way that just one can undo all the hard work. We are creatures of habit and my new habit is to be smoke free and healthy. All the best with fighting the dark side of the smoke we must beat the evil empire at all cost.

When I look back, I am pretty sure Day 14 was truly awful. So too were the mid-50s and the odd, emotionally-charged day since then. However, nothing is as bad as what you are going through and it does get easier.

My tip is to make sure you keep the list of reasons why you wanted to quit nearby and, when the going gets tough, refer to them.

A wise friend of mine who has quit for 10 years told me that week's 6-12 were hard and it helped - just to know I was not alone.

Good luck.
