Changes

Today is No. 14 and I am finding it a little easier. The first 7 days were easy, the second 7 days were harder. Sounds silly I know. I have had to change a lot of my habits in order to get to the 14th day. Sitting outside doing my puzzles, having my coffee and of course, a smoke. I have stopped this practice for the time being until I feel it will be a safe place for me. I used to smoke inside until 12 months ago and I have found it easier giving up because of no more smoking inside. During summer I spent most of the time sitting outside but now it's getting cooler my quit smoking will be easier. So I think the first step is to stop smoking inside. I am using the Nicorette Patches 16hr 25mg, sticking them on my arms and of course, removing them before bed. I have had 2 days when it was a bit rough so one day I used a Nicabate 2.5mg mint strip (worked well) and the 2nd day I had a Nicabate 4mg mint lozenge, it lasted for about 6 hours and the urge was gone. They are good for backup. I don't have anyone around me that smokes except an occasional friend that calls in. They can smoke outside the gate.
You can do it. This is about my 40th attempt and I am 67. I have emphysema and asthma and have been smoking for 53 years. I have tried hypnotism and that was a failure. My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter have given up. I have a new born great grandson and would like to see him grow up. I can't afford to buy smokes and they are going up again. My smokes used to cost me $420.00 a fortnight and my husband used to pay about $300 for his tobacco. All our savings are gone and so is our marriage. Now we just have our age pensions to live on. That's pretty sad isn't it. It was our own fault and the 'love affair' with smokes for me is over. My husband still smokes but that is his choice and I don't have to be around the temptation anymore. I still have a wine, soda and ice every afternoon but it is inside now. I have a glass of red with my dinner. I cannot give up my smokes and wine at the same time and I have found that I don't have the urge for a smoke at all.
I have worked out that in 12 months I will have $5040.00. WOW! Reckon that is worth working towards don't you.

Thanks for the support. I am glad that we are all in the same boat and can support each other.
Awww well done Sagittarius
You and I are at the same amount of days quit 😊 I'm 49 smoking 40 per day and been smoking for 35 years 🚬 I live in Ireland and stumbled upon this site accidentally 😳 But it's fabulous!! Good Luck 😁

Thank you for sharing your story. The older we get, the harder the journey.
Well done for doing it! Yes we are all in the same boat, oars out, rowing to a smoke-free life that has got to be better. It is just a hard journey for sure.
Nothing worth having is easy. Stay strong.
