Approaching a year being smoke free...

After day 357 I am constantly being reminded that we are all travelling a little differently along the quit path. The one common thread is our need for support from others on this site. The experiences shared are gold and potentially life saving.
You would think I should be without any craving! Wrong! You would think I would have no cigarettes in my abode. Again, wrong. I have kept the 4 1/2 packs since I quit as they are a constant reminder of what $100+ looks like, let alone, burnt in an ashtray. I have now saved over $7400 and taking a backwards step is not an option. In 10 years that will be over $74000. That is quite a few 1st class plane flight seats.
Regardless of where we are on the quit path, it is really good to read of the experiences of others. At times some meander and end up on an unrecognised "dirt track" and others on the "autobahn". Either way, we feel the pain and gain strength from the successes and wins of others. Bit like having a GPS when lost...

I am sure I have been down some side tracks taken the scenic route, LOL
but still here at 53 days and its been one of the hardest as I see some other things that worked early are not working any more, so it sure isn't a stagnant journey that's for sure!!
must keep morphing and changing and yes Lia the one constant is I need help, reading others stories and adventures on the quit road are so important to me I don't like feeling like I am doing this alone that's not a good place for me.
I rounded down to 100 $ a week and it was more like 120 but been saving the 100 a week its been hard but I found it for the smokes so I sure can find it to save.
I see it there and it reminds me again how screwed up smoking is for how many reasons !!
well done Lia on coming up your year and sharing you have some cravings etc too think us babies need to know that !!
yes I am looking at a longer term plan for my smoke savings but one day at time hey :)
thanks for sharing !!
IC

Congratulations Lia that year is very close. To still have those smokes in the house is a testament to your will and determination. I meant to post when I hit the 6 month mark but life got in the way and I am today 203 smoke free days. Cheers for our smoke free futures

Thanks again for sharing your experience and having the energy to keep posting for all this time. IC is right - we "babies" need to know that it can hit us anytime, the craving for that hit of nicotine. I hope that you take that first class flight soon. As to roads travelled, mine is the dirt path with the 4WD. That can navigate. Still hanging in there since March 30th. Don't count the days as yet, just doing it one day at a time. Well done to you!

Great effort, but please don't give up giving up. For some reason I always "REWARD" myself with a party (smoke several cigarettes) at the end of my two months, then end up smoking again!

Wow Lia - a significant milestone next week and that is worth a celebration. Please, please treat yourself to something special because it's a great personal achievement and also one that we, as a fellow community members on your journey, would like to share with you.

Thanks for coming here Lia after 1 year. Wow thats great for you. Also, like others are saying , we must NEVER NEVER NEVER become complacent about cigarettes and nicotine. We must never think that we have graduated to the point where we can smoke again. NO!..

Hi Lia. Well done. You must have hit your first year date by now and that's a fantastic milestone. Keep it up and great encouragement
