1 week and no smokes

So it's been a week, cold turkey, and I'm alive. Stopping smoking didn't kill me, it didn't even cause any pain. In fact, I feel better than I have in years. Days 1 & 2 were hardest, I was pretty much away with the fairies- not great for a working environment but I kept to easy tasks. I felt a bit lost and nervous but I kept to the plan. Every time I thought I wanted a smoke I would tell him he had no power over me, recite parts of the jabberwocky and have a green tea. Day 3 was easier as I surrounded myself with people , same for day 4. These people didn't know I had smoked so cigs were not discussed- genius. Day 5 was easier still, I felt positive and got myself committed to doing the race for life in 8 weeks. Days 6 & 7, though easier psychologically were hardest physically. I felt terribly bloated and pained. Sorted this out with ginger tea, so all fine. Finally, at the end of day 7 I did a 2k run. I know that's not far but as I hadn't exercised for 2 years I felt pretty pleased. So that's my first week done and if I can do it, you can too. Only thing to add is that I had read Allen Carrs Easy Way To Stop Smoking. It helps with the mind. Anyway, keep trying and one day, not too far from here, if not already, we will all stop for good.

Your post made me laugh. Alive, no pain... That's pretty much what quitting looks like. Sometimes takes a while to really believe it. Enjoy the ride

I'm more surprised than anything, really didn't think I would come away feeling so positive and wanting to make such a change to my life. I do have another hurdle and that will be Glastonbury but as long as I stay true to my quest, I will be fine. Thanks for all your support, I think we all have a lot to feel proud about.
