Trying to quit after previous quit

I am now trying to quit after having been smoke free for two and a half years. I quit in late 2010 and started up again in mid 2013. I want to quit again but it is not going as well as hoped. If you quit like I did, please do not start up again!

Thank you for your insights, I know that it is one of my greatest fears that I will start again, I am only 44 days smoke free, at the moment I am very aware that I can not risk having even a puff as I would most certainly start smoking again, but to think that I will always need to be this aware of my weakness is frightening. Good luck with your journey I wish you every success

you don't have to answer this but why did you start again?
thanks for sharing your story !!

I am just 11 months into the journey. Like the others, why. oh why did you start again? Did you forget one puff leads to another? Very curious to know or understand why being quit for so long one would take up the insidious habit again. Hope you succeed and look forward to reading about your insight into what causes one to regress.

To answer the question of why I started again, I found the gateway smoke that are cigars. My Dad is a previous cigarette smoker and has been quit for 10 years now. He still has the occasional cigar with no problems. My wife got me a couple of my favorites and they led back to cigarettes. Biggest mistake of my life save for maybe starting in the first place.
