Relapse

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 8 Apr 2016

I relapsed. The past 3 weeks were very stressful. My granddaughter was in the hospital. My daughter from Omaha stayed with us, she is a smoker. No excuse I know, but I did lose my 173 days of not smoking.

Tomorrow I will start again, put on my patches, and hopefully regain my quit. Almost made it 6 months. Rebooting and moving forward. There is no sense looking in the rearview mirror.

yeah never safe and keeping a reminder on what and who I am in regards to smoking has to always be in the font of the mind. not blaring loud but a gentle knowing.

thanks for sharing and hope you are back up and running.

Just pretend it never happened. So it is not 173 days smoke free. It is 172. After all that hard work just think of it as a bad dream. You really do not have to go back to day 1. I am up to day 313. It is just a number. There is always some craving trying to derail us. Just move on and enjoy the support you get from others on this site.

Don't worry about it, put it out your mind and carry on but do recognise what caused the relapse so you can be stronger next time. If you become stressed then try pausing and take 10 really deep and slow breaths. Concentrate on filling your lungs, of course it may make you cough but do the 10 and hopefully the craving will have gone. Try it.

Hey sunny. You have done an excellent job so keep it up and ignore your hiccup. Smoking is an evil gremlin - it waits until you're at your lowest and shoves its foot in the door. Give your self credit for your 173 days. It proves you are strong.
