Champix finished me ....

Posted in Quit experiences

Being told i was borderline COPD and after having several chest infections thought it was time for me to quit. I started Champix on the 23.02.16 my mum's birthday, however two months later i have had to stop - The side effects have beaten me. Nightmares, suicidal thoughts and a feeling of not wanting to do anything but sit in my chair. Has anyone else felt this way? The smoke-free nurse i saw agreed i could stop but the side effects this last week have been horrendous.

that doesn't sound like much fun at all, there must be a better way? what did the Dr say?

Well she was glad i had come off them, they are known apparently for having the most horrendous mood swings side effects. Taking some time out to be kind to me by going away to Ireland for a few days. Back on my antidepressants but hopefully off the smokes xx

that's good you have a Dr who is helping and stopping smoking is only meant to be as hard as stopping smoking any added pressure sure isn't needed, hang in there and remember its doable one day at time less if need be.

share how you feel we have to let the stuff out :)

like I have said 14 days in cold turkey I have stuff to deal with like well ME smoke free, its ok though its all part of the process !

take care and have a nice trip.

Hi Mary. I too found Champix horrendous but had success with nicobate lozenges. After smoking for 40 years I've managed to be smoke free for over 300 days. It really is worth hanging in there one hour, then day, then week..... It adds up fast and the longer you go the more confident you get. Good luck.
