A few things I've observed...

Well I'm up to day 22 and I must say, I'm finding it a lot easier than I was expecting.

Part of the reason I think I'm coping so well is that I don't have anyone around me who smokes. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to quit when I lived with another smoker.

I found the cravings in the first week rather intense, I've also been eating a lot more chocolate than I normally would. I guess I'm looking for some sort of substitute.

Still waiting to feel better physically, as of yet I'm still feeling rather the same. For instance, I haven't noticed my sense of smell or taste returning to normal yet.

Very happy I made the decision to quit, that was definitely the hardest part. Hope everyone here will remain smoke free with me :)

Hello Elias

Welcome to the page of sharing your experiences,

You have handled the 1st step of giving up smoking which in its self a very major step, but you have done great to reach day 22.

It is still early days for you to have the sense of smell and taste, be patient with yourself, it will come. Over coming years of smoking is a very big achievement our bodies also need to adjust to the very big shake up its had.

Be positive about what you want and you will achieve..

Elias ,

day 20 for me and doing about the same as you, and sometimes I feel worse than I did when smoking but I have to remember 30 years of smoking then stopping my body is going through major changes to function smoke free. its like healing from a huge trauma it takes time and some days are going to be crappy !!

I am eating sugar too and that's ok for now.

thanks for sharing where you are at it helped me big time cause I been feeling pretty sh$ty but I know it will pass and healing takes time and there is probably stuff smoke free health wise I will have to deal with.

but if I kept smoking i would have nothing to deal with, so we march forward one day at time ! to the life we were meant to have :)

so well done and thanks !!
