Side effects of champix

At 57 I had a heart attack, lights and sirens the whole bit! In one day w stent to 95%blockage, home the next and back at work a week later. The first thing I did was stop smoking at work but come my days off made up for it. I'd heard so many bad things about Champix but knew I had to give it a try. It was hard to discern whether side affects were from Champix or the meds I'm now on for my heart disease. Week 5 now and I stopped smoking day 8, occasionally feel like a cig but it doesnt last for long. I am having vivd dreams but not terrible ones, have dreamed a lot of my deceased Mum which did freak me out a bit, thinking she was coming to get me! As long as i eat before AM dose and take PM dose w a snack around 4, no nausea, so reading others effects i am lucky. However I am still so unmotivated to do much on my days off and can sleep way more than what I used to. I'm in bed by 9pm and my alarm wakes me at 5.30. On my days off i just keep going back to sleep until 11am, do a bit then will have up to a 2hr nanny nap in the arvo.I used to work 5days, have dropped to 4 and I want to be able to enjoy my days off. Does anyone have a similar experience w champix? Will the tiredness go soon or do I have to wait until the 12 wks is up?Has any supplements helped? Obviously having a heart attack I have totally changed my lifestyle, eat healthily all week not just 5/2, exercise 2nd daily and try not to stress, hence 4day working week. What else could I do?

Hi Lynnieh, sorry about your heart attack, but major congrats on giving it another go on quitting the smokes.
I cannot give you any answers on Champix because I never had them, but as for your heart medication..alot of your answers would be them as they are designed to slow you down and please remember you had a very major interuption to your life being the heart attack, taking things easy and rest are the key to you.
Next time you are at the Drs tell him/her these issues you are having.
I understand with Champix you are only on these for a short time, so when you have finished this course see how you go, maybe the clash of medication you are on could be giving you more tiredness.

Look up champix on the internet, there is a lot of advice there. Well done, best to quit smoking and sleep you will catch up on things later.

Thank you jenno and cath, I appreciate the advise. As w most things just talking about it helps.
