Quickmist

I'm 29 and have smoked for about 10 years. I've tried to quit about 5 times over the years, either pure cold turkey or with patches, or by cutting down, but cutting down seriously doesn't work if you ask me, you make excuses to have 'just one more' and end up not cutting anything. Best approach is cold turkey with some form of NRT. Don't want to speak too soon, jinx myself or sound like a walking advertisement for the Nicorette corporation, but I've been on the Quickmist for a week now and it's been pretty good. Problem with patches is they're slow release, you don't notice anything because there's no ritual to it, and therefore no feeling of having a 'hit'. With the mist you get a bit of the ritual, taking out the spray thing and 'using' it. A bit harsh at first — make sure you aim under tongue or inside cheek, NEVER down the throat as it burns a bit and can make you hiccup like crazy! So I'd recommend it, plus treat the sh*t out of yourself with nice food and snacks. Expensive cheeses and quince paste is my personal sin. And chocolate obviously. Amazing how quick your appetite (and sense of taste) comes back and you can enjoy food again. You start to feel more healthy after just a few days: once you get the feeling, hold onto it! Never let go. Hit the mist whenever you have a craving, eat decadent food and worry about your waistline later. Good luck comrades!

WilliamPS,

Thank you for sharing your story with us, I find these methods of helping to quit smoking very intriguing. I went cold turkey and was successful for me. But I read how others have given up or still in the process with assistance, but whatever method works to get the desired results, just go for it.

Looking forward to reading more of your progess.
