Unexpected Advantage

One unexpected advantage of stopping smoking is not feeling stressed at Christmas. In years past, I was always worried that I wouldn't have enough money to buy Christmas presents for my children and grandchildren as well as buy cigarettes and food.

This year I do and I am so proud of myself as well as feeling calmer about Christmas. I think I'll even be able to enjoy it this year!

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. Stay strong and committed to continuing to stop smoking over the holidays and into the future.

Hi Suszan

I must say I have felt increasingly more relaxed over the past 207 smoke free days. More so now that I have given myself an $8000 pa "pay rise". So many bills, not to mention gifts suddenly don't break the bank! There is so much more spare cash... Seems you have done the same. To you and everyone else who is conquering this addiction, have the best Christmas.

Thanks Lia. It's amazing how much smoking takes from you without you realising. Your health, your money, your peace of mind. No more! Today marks one week smoke free. I know I will be celebrating many more with your help. Merry Christmas!

Hi Suszan, love reading your posts, I really do, they help me no end. You are an inspiration. I am finishing my 3rd week on Champix, and have been smoke free for 9 days, 11hrs, 15mins - Lol, The last 2 days I have been very unwell on Champix, tummy pains and constipation. Hopefully, fixed the latter, but continually have tummy pains. Walking seems to help. Pretty damn proud of myself so far, 43yrs of smoking - no more! I am so determined this time. 2nd time on Champix, relapsed after 3 months last time. Agree with Lia as well, I seem more relaxed, not as frantic about everything as I was. Good thing I might say! Keep up the good work, cheers all.

Thanks,Beau. You sound like you're having a hard time. I hope you feel better soon. I think I might be having an easier time of it because I'm taking Zyban. My GP said it has less side effects than Champix. Chia seeds have always helped me with tummy troubles. I just sprinkle about a dessertspoon on my Vegemite toast in the morning. Drinking more water seems to help too. I'm so proud that you've stopped smoking after 40+ years. More power to you!
