The first 24 hours

So I just past 24 hours - I am not going to lie it was a bit challenging - but Every time I thought "I'll just have one to relieve the feeling" I reminded myself of how desperate I am to quit and that every hour i don't smoke I get closer to feeling better so I don't have a smoke - these smokes are not my friend and I don't need them - thanks to everyone who shared encouragement with me before quitting it has really helped in the first 24 hours - I didn't think I would last this long but so far so good :) I am determined!

Sometimes those who are further down the track need to be reminded of how big a hurdle it was to start out on this journey. Honestly, the first 24 hours and less are the scariest because we don't/didn't know what the outcome would be. If you have made the decision to quit, just keep on keeping on. Visit this site, post your posts and enjoy the encouragement you will get from fellow quitters.

Hello Desperate, the poison smokes is never your friend. You're doing great with your quit. keep going... don't look back. Distract yourself from nicotine cravings... it's short-lived. I have been a non-smoker now for over a year or 483 days, it's the best feeling in the world, not hooked on disgusting tobacco. I smell wonderful, I feel just awesome! You can do it! Best wishes!!!

Congratulations on keeping up your resolve to stop smoking. The first few days are particularly difficult but you will eventually learn to be a non-smoker just as you learnt to be a smoker. It gets easier as time passes. Be proud of yourself! You've done, and are doing something worthwhile for yourself and your loved ones by becoming smoke free for good.

I agree with Lia. We forget those first few days after a bit of time. But they are a crucial foundation to the ongoing success. Keep reminding yourself about why you chose to quit and you'll stay on track. Good luck with it.

Yes you are right it is mind over matter. Instead of allowing the cigarettes to control you. You stay & remain incontrol & say no to the craving I will not give into you now. I have all of the control & power & I choose to live in total freedom.
