Learning to be a non smoker

schedule 15 Dec 2015

So have quit before many times - Last serious attempt i lasted a year until a bad break up and have been smoking for the past year up until 8 days ago. I am super determined to never smoke again. From all my experiences of giving up i found the most helpful thing was to be prepared. Plan ahead and do your homework when your not having a craving and when your in the mindset to not smoke. Drill it into you so it's unquestionable in all circumstances to smoke. I have written 3 short essays in the last couple of weeks and whenever someone asks me I explain to them why i'm quitting smoking. Because I actually care about myself and i want to wake up from being a moron and self harming. Strategy is crucial - it's not a choice is something you have to learn to do. Keep learning until it's done !! Smoking is not an option.

I agree - I was thinking about this today and I do think that being prepared is the most important tool in the box. Articulating a truthful and comprehensive list of reasons why one is quitting and having easy access to that list at all times is also of enormous assistance.

Good luck with it.

Good luck Fresh Air but it sounds like you have the determination. Being prepared as you can be is a great help and reading the stories of others on this site has helped me enormously.
