Christmas Party Slip Up.

Day 44 and I thought it would be ok to chill out for the first time since my quit date and have a few beers with the guys from work. I was in control for the first half of the night but I eventually caved in having a total of 2 smokes over the night. In hindsight that isnt a large number compared to the 20+ I would have during a normal night out but it still doesn't feel great to have that perfect record tainted. Still keeping at it, the rewards of giving up far exceed the so called "benefits". Not sure if it will ever be safe or easy to party again, but I guess the other positive of that is i'm also drinking a lot less.

Hi ninjatubes. You are not the only one who has erred along the way. Everyone on this site would be happy if you could just go onwards from day 44 and remember the trigger as opposed to not partying. Avoid the trigger, not the partying. By all means, ingest or imbibe, just don't inhale...

Now that you've had a couple of the stinkn demons whilst on the grog your inner voice will be eagerly waiting for the next time you enduldge...
Absolutely no stinkn demons with a cupola beers and before you know it you wont even feel like one...If we didn't drink giving up smoking would be a sinch....Anyhow good luck with your quit

Thanks guys, trying to keep cool. Might have to become a nun. Do they let guys become nuns? :P
Good luck to you all as well.

Hi ninjatubes. I am sorry to hear about your slip-up. I can see that you know what you have to do (and sounds like you have already done) and get back on the wagon ASAP. Don't be too hard on yourself as you have done well and will in the future. I have had slip-ups during previous quit attempts (that unfortunately led me back to smoking). I now don't look at them as failures but as part of learning about myself and how to beat my horrible addiction once and for all. I am sure you will be able to take something from your slip-up and be better prepared for similar situations in future (as opposed to entering a nunnery). All the best for your future non-smoking endeavours!!!

Hey,I agree, use the slip up to identity your triggers.I've slipped a few times but hopefully I've gotten that out of my system! I don't drink so smoking was my one act of rebellion...well that and tattoos 😊 Just keep going,as for the nun thing, mmmmm, not sure about that one!!

Stay strong Ninjatubes. i was always envious of the social smokers - those who only had a smoke when they had a drink but I realised that they either where not addicted to nicotine like me or they had a very long withdrawal between cigs. Don't beat yourself up as we have all done this and please don't give up on giving up. It is hard to go for drinks without smoking but for me the hangover was nowhere near as bad as the combination of alcohol and cigs. Good luck.

Cheers for all the support . Keeping strong. I never expected this site to be so helpful, and it's thanks to people like you guys. I guess there are somethings family and friends don't understand when it comes to the quitting process.
Good luck to everyone out there.
Always remember the reason you started this journey.

No worries there i have slipped up many times and 2 cigarettes whilst been a mild relapse you were able to control the amount you smoked although i will say to you that any alcohol you have even if it's beer at least for me seems to bring on a very heavy urge to use tobacoo It depends on your health
