Painless to quit

Cant believe it , 3 weeks of Smoke Free. And i used to think that i cant even freshen up in the morning without 2-3 cigarettes. I went for cold turkey quitting. With 10 cigarettes left in a pack i decided to quit. I dint throw the pack away . I kept it in front of me, by my bedside and resolved not to smoke. The pack still rests in my side drawer but never ever opened it. And all this after 30+ years of smoking. And last many years @ 20 sticks a day.
I have never felt so good before . Mouth feels fresh throughout the day , no itch in the throat , no wheezing sound while breathing , i cycle effortlessly for 15-20 Kms every morning and I SAVE Money. I have downloaded one of these apps on the phone which i refer to once a day ( Now , earlier it used to be 5-6 times) on benefits to my health , money saved, Life increased... etc etc.
I normally pray every morning. These days when i pray, i only ask God to give me the resolve not to light one again. I dont feel any craving now , the irritation has gone by and my behaviour has returned to normal.
I dont want to advise anyone to quit smoking. That drive has to come from within. All i want to share is that sometimes we begin to believe what will we do without it . How will we freshen up in the morning. What will we do when we will be tense. What will we do when we are holding a drink in our hand...........What What and What....All i can tell you is nothing changes. Everyone will still be able to freshen up, fight the pressures of work and life , hold and enjoy a drink , socialize .....heavens are not going to fall if you were to quit.
The Choice is Yours. I dont believe any one will die if they dont quit. All i know is you will enjoy more if you quit. So the choice is not between Life or Death. Choice is between Life and a better quality Life.
YOU CHOOSE...
And if you go Cold Turkey, i will pray for you too.....
Love and Regards

well done. Like you I went cold turkey which I believe is the best way.. all in the mind my friend

Mind is the biggest BEAST to control. Rest all is incidental........Cheers and all the best to you as well to stay off the stick.

Well done, I started with the nicochew but i hated it ! have been using willpower and this site for support, keep going!

My half carton still sits in a cupboard. Have not succumbed to the temptation in 137 days. Not to mention the half pack which has been in my handbag all that time. Cold turkey. Way to go. Who would have thought oxygen tasted/smelled so good. Being able to breathe during the night is a bonus... Enjoy the power, the posts and encouragement you will receive.

Good work atulkapoor. This site is fabulous and I really like to read others quit journeys. Another thing I like is smelling fresh and not having to shower constantly to remove the stench of smoke.

One month of Smoke Free Life. First time in last 30 years of smoking. Feels fabulous. Something strange is happening. I feel like going out every spare moment i have . I feel like doing some activity even if i have 5 min free. Earlier i used to feel so Lethargic. Yawning most of the day. Tried to think hard whats the reason. Only logical explanation is that the energy levels have gone up many many fold every since the quit date. Hope to stay the same way.....Wish all of you too a smoke free life....Honestly its not about cancer or some disease.....Its just about living better on a day to day basis........My wife says my snoring has reduced dramatically. I dont wake up middle of nights craving for a cigarette...i have a very peaceful sleep at night.....
