One month down..

So, had a great weekend not smoking this weekend, went to a Boat show, and commented to my wife how much more I saw there this year, as I was not trying to rush through to get out to get to have a ciggie... It was nice.
I am trying to notice the positive advantages to not smoking, and was chatting about this to my family on the weekend, and my son said its so nice to hug me when i get home and I don't stink of smoke.. my wife commented that she noticed the same thing with the laundry - it does not smell of stale smoke anymore..
I feel way more free without having to carry smokes and a lighter around all day, but often feel I am forgetting something in my pre pocket check, before leaving home... wallet, mobile...??? Oh! I don't smoke anymore.., so a free pocket.. I would never buy work shirts that did not have a top pocket in them, as I would not have enough space for my smokes..
We were out having drinks with friends on Friday evening, and not once did I even feel like a smoke, and we drank a bit much, but Saturday I woke up expecting a massive hangover, and a sore throat from "power Smoking" I used to do when I drank, and wow - just a slight tippy head, but no major hangover, or sore throat..
Another thing, I used to take daily medication for heartburn and reflux, and the pharmacist said not to use it within 2 hours of the champix, so I have been forgetting to take this, and have not noticed any heartburn lately, so stopped taking it last week... maybe the heartburn was from smoking..
So, There's my list of advantages after 1 month off the smokes, besides the saved cash and of course - NOT SMOKING...
For my monthly non-smoking birthday, I decided to grow up, and finally get rid of my Back-Up smokes I have been carrying around with me as a pacifier for a month, and gave them to a mate yesterday, and can you believe he asked me for a lighter, which I don't carry anymore, and I said to him.."Why would I have a Lighter, I don't smoke anymore!", and he looked at me really puzzled.., but I felt great, as I know its the truth, and a real awakening - I don't smoke anymore.. try say it out loud to someone sometime - its really empowering and great for your self-confidence.
Here's hoping it gets easier from here on in, but still being very aware of the sneaky smoking voice that comes out now and again, but will be better prepared this time, as I don't have smokes anymore, and don't have a back up $30 in my wallet anymore, and know what it feels and tastes like to slip up, and it was not pleasant.
Thanks for all the support from my post on Friday, and keep on quitting guys..
Cheers.

Great news Dave - what a positive post and I am so happy you had a great weekend. It is good to be reminded of all the wonderful things that happen when we stop smoking. I sat next to a smoking mate at a lunch yesterday and he kept leaving the table and coming back, smelling of smoke. I was appalled that I had done that to everyone else all these years.
I also had a check list of four things to carry before I left the house : keys, phone, wallet and ciggies. So thrilled that it is only three now.
Keep up the good work.

Well done Dave, i have hit 14 days today and saved myself approx. $180.00. The past weekend was really tough and nearly caved to my cravings. I also tend to go through the routine each morning going to work and checking pockets and being convinced i'm missing something but it is only the smokes.

One whole month how cool does that feel that you have come sooooo far. Keep it up you can finally talk in months. Keep strong x
