Look at your Stats!

I was responding to a post here this morning, and was flabbergasted at the stats:
Day 23 quit for me at 30 smokes per day means:
* at least 690 cigarettes not smoked...
* at least 3,450 minutes of not spending the time smoking - or 57 hours - a long workweek..., excluding the time taken to get to the smokers corner 11 floors down, around the corner..
* at 2 liters of air per draw, at least 13,800 less liters of smoke filled air was processed by my lungs - that's a fuel truck worth of polluted air I have not processed through my body...
*at least 13,800 liters of smoke filled air, not polluting our environment, and passers by...
* at least 690 cigarette butts, no longer need to be passed through a waste treatment facility in Australia.
*about 1/2 kg of ash no longer lies on our pavement...
Get the picture here..., besides the $$$ saved, time wasted, waste generated and pollution and personal health benefits - people around me are generally happier...
... So why do I still feel so crappy and still struggling not to smoke after 23 days???

Hi Dave, these are impressive stats and are compelling reasons for our rational decision not to smoke. But there is still an irrational, impulsive pull to satisfy a desire which, if left unsatisfied, makes us feel anxious and sad. Somehow we have to shut down that irrational voice and I think the only way is to resist and ignore it. Easier said than done but I am quite sure that it does become easier with time.
You are doing so well - keep it up.

Wow Dave, thanks that's unreal, thanks for posting.I was 5 a day for the last few years and believe me I needed every one of those. We started out at the same time and I had a slip early on,it was with that or kill someone (long story) I don't regret it but also I don't recommend it.As soon as I smoked it I thought"oh crap,I'm just going to have to go through withdrawal AGAIN.Keep going, its the right thing to do😊
