Well I've now passed 500 days smoke free.

I no longer crave cigarettes or even think about them. I honestly thought I would for the rest of my life, but I really don't. When I smell it, it doesn't bother me at all but it certainly doesn't tempt me to have one. When I have a few beers, even if there are smokers around me, I'm not tempted to have one, I don't even think about it unless someone brings it up.

This will be my last post, I no longer live in a world dominated by thoughts of when I can have my next smoke. Nicotine is not my master anymore!!!

To everyone that is starting their journey, I encourage you to stay strong. I know it's hard, it really is, but that's no excuse to have a smoke, that's the opposite of what you need to do. People will say to you that it gets easier and your eyes will roll, but it does get easier and it will get easier for you. For me it wasn't until after 12 months that I really felt like I was becoming a non smoker. Until that point I always said to people that I was an addict, I will always be a smoker, the only thing that will change is the length of time since my last smoke. I know that really isn't the case now.

I am a non smoker.

Congratulations on your achievement and thanks for checking back in here. I have had such a horrid couple of days with this process but your post and story inspire me to move through it all. Thank you so much.

Thanks for revisiting and appreciate your words of encouragement. Since you are free from the habit I understand why you have posted your farewell... The rest of us would like to be free from the habit and know we are not dependent on others to encourage us. Nevertheless, an occasional visit in from you in the months and years to come might just save someone else. No doubt you had some support from subscribers on this site. It is so good to read the occasional message from someone who feels hey have truly beaten the habit. Look forward to your message of 1000 days smoke free.
