DAY 4 SMOKE FREE- HURRAY

I made it to day 4, using the nicotine patch. The HABIT is the hardest part of overcoming this addiction. I have been deep breathing, delaying and distracting. I am trying to substitute acceptable behaviors in place of smoking. At my desk, I brush cuticle oil on my nails. I chew sugar free gum. It seems the worst crave occurs about 2 in the afternoon. That has been a signal to get some cut up veggies and a big glass of water.
Today I am thinking " I used to be a smoker"- that is a big step for me. I did have a dream about smoking last night, but when I woke up I didn't crave the first cig of the day. I am grateful and pray that I can stay on this path.

4 Days is an awesome effort...if you can do 4 you can do 4 more easier than you done the first 4...keep strong and keep up the great work

My craving has a name. For the past 137 days I have told "Margaret Thatcher" where to go... After days of abstaining, she will rear her vicious voice and suggest I "reward" myself and she has continued to do so intermittently over the course of 137 days. Give the craving a name. That way it is not your voice telling you to light up, it is someone else. Just say an emphatic NO. With expletives, if necessary.
