Almost....but not quite

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 8 Oct 2015

Wow, 78 days smokefree and I almost had a cigarette on the weekend. I had it in my hand and a friend stopped me. Everyone was smoking around me, which usually OK, except for this once. I am glad I resisted, but I am still thinking of having one!

that's unreal. after nearly 3 months.....need to get your head back into no smoke mode

Just don't have one. I know that sounds like the silliest thing for an ex-smoker to say but that is what got me through yesterday. I just needed to do the hour by hour thing and then go to bed as early as I could. Truth be told, it doesn't feel much better today but it would feel so much worse if I had a ciggie. As Dave said yesterday, it wasn't a great experience.

I keep thinking of this as a battle and the stronger we become the greater is the fight put up by the smoking demon within. The more we resist the weaker that demon becomes. All that said, I know how you feel and I wish you all the most positive, wonderful thoughts in the world to get you through this challenging time.

Good luck.

Don't do it - it is a slippery slope - think of the first few week and how hard it was to stay quit - you don't want to do it all over agin do you..

Keep strong and distract yourself by getting busy, and avoid smokers for a few days..

Just Don't do it!
