Quick Question?

I wondered whether anyone could tell me what the difference is between a withdrawal symptom and a craving.

A withdrawal symptom is usually caused by your body as it tries to adjust to a sudden reduction or lack of nicotine.
Nicotine withdrawal can cause some rather horrible symptoms but the good news is that they will ease and eventually fade away.
A craving is different because your simply wanting something either because it contains something your body wants or it had previously made you feel good.
Food cravings are common but have their own affects, its not unusual for quitters to crave food and gain weight as a result.

Thank you for your response. I wondered whether you could clarify what some of the most usual physical symptoms are of a craving versus withdrawal symptoms. I find the second week a lot more physically grueling.

Thanks, that was a question I had, think its a bit of both for me,nicotine withdrawal and assosiated anxiety relief.Have had a tough few years, had been off the ciggies a year and went through some "life" stuff leading me to smoke for the past 2.I just want to get back on track, smoking really affects my self esteem 😞

Hi Fullofhope, there is heaps on google regarding the difference between the two terms so might be worth having a look. Im very proud of you and I keep a look out for your posts. You should be very happy with your progress as those first few weeks sort out the beginners and those that graduate to team determined in week 4. Keep strong xxx
