Day 85 One Year 280 Days Away

I finished the last of my patches this week and I am happy to report no issues when I stopped using them. Going good so now counting down to 100 which is exciting. I'm not missing anything relating to smoking. I realise I will always be on my guard in relation to smoking but I honestly can't see myself going back. Stay strong everyone

good job, did you do the whole course with the patches? I put 1 on Sunday( the strongest patch) but havnt changed it yet as I really havnt felt the need to.
Hi Nannette. Very glad to hear you're still going strong. I am also counting to the big 100. I'm still using nrt but I don't care how long I do that because I'm not smoking.

Thrilled for you! And there was a time oh so not really long ago when we thought it might all be just too hard. How much wiser, smarter and empowered are we now!

You continue to inspire - all of you who have paved the way for those of us behind you. It is so wonderful to follow your journeys and even to look back on what you went through before I ever visited this site. One of the things I find so hard it that this whole quitting thing can still throw you - after four weeks you can still be blind-sided for a day. In the past, without any of the support I have found on here, that would be enough to cave in but it is the stories of Nannette and Feather and Lia which keep me as sane and hopeful as I can be at the moment.
I think that notion of being on guard is a good one. There surely must be a time when the devil in your brain tries to catch you out when you think you are beyond having to worry.
Congratulations to you and thank you for continuing to give us updates.

Hi everyone thank you for your lovely posts. I just wanted to say to Nodrah I used the 21mg patch for 8 weeks then the 15 mg for two weeks and then the 10 mg for the last few weeks. The patches were my saviour and I was determined to do it properly this time and ladies who would have thought we would have come this far. We are one determined bunch of girls . Fullofhope you are going soon we'll . I always read your post straight up and always chuffed to see you powering on. As we all know the first bit is TOUGH but then one day you just notice that you have hardly even thought about it and it's like "YES I AM DOING THIS"

Your fantastic, Nannette. Keep going... Also, best wishes, and more power to your husband's quit smoking. That's awesome!!!:)

Dear Nannette,
Power to you for gaining control of such a dibilitating scurge of a habit. I hope to have another good day tomorrow. I got down to six cigarettes today. The quitline are working with me to reduce to nothing. I am having many health set backs with quit attempts. I get really frustrated that I have not managed to stop yet. But I keep trying. Last week I went 35 hours smoke-free. I broke my days down to 1/2 hourly intervals. One thing I don't mind about weaning myself is losing weight. I am exercising more, like daily. The fitter I am getting, the more I walk. I have seen wildflowers and water fountains, been to a nature reserve, soon I will go to the beach. The quitline really helped me with that. They said -'Don't wait to quit to walk. Walk to quit.'

Wow Nannette, you truly have been an inspiration for me too! Reading your posts have given me tips and the know how of what I can look forward to in the future!! I'm on day 46 and still find myself struggling at times although I'm determined not to go back! Congratulations and thank you for your posts.

Well done Nanette! Keep going....I just looked today after a few days and I am on day 66.
