Been a long time since I visited. Heavy smoker for more than 35 years. According to this site I've saved $27,200. A few more figures I've come up with. Since I gave up the price of a carton of my smokes at the supermarket has increased by 46.4% which is enormous. When I first started a slab of beer was $6 and is now about 7 times more expensive; a litre of petrol was 11 cents and is now about 13 times more expensive and a packet of 20 was 40 cents or 2 cents per cigarette - now one smoke of the same brand is $1 so 50 times more expensive. It has been a long road and no it wasn't easy for quite a while but for me it was a matter of being stubborn and insisting to myself that I was in control of what I do or don't do. Good luck all - it does get easier to the point you don't think about it any more.

Wow! How inspiring. I too hope I can remain stubborn. So good to hear from someone who is familiar with this site. I can remember those days, too...
