hi all, well survived day 1 yesterday with plenty of ups and downs but woke up this morning still alive without that feel like coughing syndrome when breathing in which felt GOOD.

Good on you nodrah, yes it is day by day but it goes quickly. This is my first long time quitting after 37 years of smoking I have quit for 53 days I think! Still a struggle but never ever going back, cough is totally gone!!! Lots of ups and downs for awhile till we are normal again!!!! Good luck, stay strong

Congratulations! Sometimes Day 1 can be harder than any other day on the journey. All that time literally on your hands... Suddenly you have to actually DO something else... And because you will soon have lungs that function properly physical activities will not be a challenge and you won't have to take time out to satisfy the cravings. Hope you enjoy the amazing support provided by like minded determined individuals who subscribe to this site. I am up to day 115 with savings of nearly $2200. Would you believe I still have 1/2 a pack of ciggies in my bag and half an abandoned carton in a cupboard. There is therefore never a need for a "panic attack". I just choose not to smoke. What's more, it's a great reminder of what $100 looks like before it is reduced to ash and I choose not to burn the last remnants of my habit. You too can succeed.

Congratulations on Day 1 and all the very best for the next few days. Once you have some days behind you, you will know that you can do it and feel motivated to continue - because you just don't want to go through it all again. Well done.

I would like to reclaim the night. I have frequented petrol stations just to get a coffee. Lately I curbed the night time smoking so there would not be any 2am treks to the shop to get cigarettes. I did try to quit today. I managed to cut down substatially.
