I have tried and failed before. This time I want it to work. Very anxious about my willpower. Only been 5 days, I am wearing a 14mg patch. The 2 mg lozenge is yucky. I need to quit for health and family that I love. One reason calls me grandpa!

Hi ambrish. Good on you for quitting. I found it helps if I don't think about willpower, I just think of getting rid of a very destructive "friend" I didn't need. I even named the habit after someone I didn't want in my life. I smoked for 40 years and had quite a few failed attempts but this time I have no intentions of giving in to that "friend". I'm up to 54 days now. If I can do it I'm sure you can. Good luck. You will find the others on this page awesome motivators so check in often.

Hi Ambrish there comes a point with smoking when you just know it's time , then the decision as to a day to start and then you begin your journey. I remember reading a post on this site from a guy who had quit for over 12 months who said he was successful not so much because he wanted to quit but because he HAD to and that just rang so true to me. I had given smoking 22 years of my life and that was enough years , I have devoted to much time energy and money and the sad part is it is such a waste. The saddest post was two weeks from a man who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and urged everyone to not wait until it is too late. I'm 47 days into my journey and using the 24 mg patches and I'm 1300 dollars ahead. I bank my dart money every day and it has been a huge motivating factor as I'm looking at 10000 dollars by 30th june 2016. I was smoking 30 a day, so if I can do it you can too. This website has helped me enormously for support. Keep strong and keep posting

Hi Hambrish. Hang in there mate. I quit almost 3 years ago for the same reason as you. It is not easy but it is worth it. I still feel the occasional urge but what can you expect after 55 years of smoking, hang in there, I used 21mg patches for 16hours pd but I do not know if that made a difference. Keep in touch.

Ambrish-You seem to be really wanting to quit and please do believe all of the above friends and me-you will do it if you really want to. Feather is so right-do not give 'will power' much of a thought and just live it by the day with the thought that you are doing each part of yourself a big favor by not smoking. 'Quitting' is your latest friend and you need to ignore your old, evil buddy-smoking:) And as I always love to say-the benefits far outnumber the disastrous effects of the 'cancer stick':) Just FYI today is my 63rd day of being smoke free guys and I urge all of us to encourage and motivate each one of us in this forum to keep at it till we can sit back and say-This feels goooooood:) CHEERS! Hum honge Kamayab (We will succeed-in Hindi)

Hi Ambrish, I have just arrived home from baby siting my 18month old grandson ,he calls me nanna and I love him to the moon and back. I quit 99 days ago. today my little mate and I went on 2 long walks, he wants to run everywhere and run down little hills into my arms and we have a wrestle, and you know what "I can do it" "I can run" 6 mnths ago I would have been out of breath and would have avoided it, I preferred to read him books and do all the quite stuff, Now we run around and hug him whilst he screams in delight. I'm alive !!!!!! just go for it It is a pretty good reason to>
