One Year on and no going back

Posted in Quit experiences

I have now been a non smoker for one year, yes that's right one whole year, 12 months, 365 days. I had wanted to quit my smoking habit of approximately 6 packs per week for some time. Developing a chest infection gave me the kick up the backside that I needed. I couldn't smoke due to feeling unwell and decided I had smoked my last cigarette. I gave a brand new unopened pack of 20 cigarettes to a colleague with the words "have them on me, I am giving up". Over the next few days whilst feeling ill I didn't smoke and have never had another cigarette. Rather than tell myself I wanted a cigarette but couldn't or shouldn't have one, I told myself I don't want one. I went cold turkey and have never looked back. Whichever method works for you stick with it, you can do it. Good Luck.
